25th april

April 25th, 2005

Hello, sorry it’s been so long since the last post but i’ve beenexceptionally busy of late. I have stripped my old bike and sent the frame away to be straightened. meanwhile the engine from that bike is being serviced. So im a bike light at the minute. I was at Eastbourne saturday just gone which didnt go too well at all. I popped a clutch spring out in my first ride and knocked my steel shoe off somehow. After that i didnt have a replacement spring and never managed to get into contention.
But i went home saturday night got up at 8am and cleaned the bike and loaded up ready to go to Sittingbourne. What a difference, i got a new clutch spring and was ready.
My first ride i made the gate and seemed to be pulling away on the outside in the first bend but Trevor seemed to get drive down low and passed me going down the back straight. I tucked in behind him and when he dropped it on the 3rd lap the race was awarded with me in second. My second race i was off gate 4 again. I found a new rut which i set myself up in. The tapes shot up and i blasted round the outside into the lead. I led for 2 and a half laps but Keith Yorke passed me on the outside through the narrowest of gaps. I stayed in second and picked up another 2 points. Overall a good day.
I’ll be cleaning th ebike and travelling to wimbledon on weds weather permitting of course.

April 18th

April 17th, 2005

Hello, well it’s about ten past twelve or so on sunday night. I had a fairly good night last night. i scored 2 points from 3 rides. The track was extremely slick and very tricky to ride. This showed as i fell about 3 times. But i managed to have a couple of good tussles with Lee and Aron in different rides. Had a nice relaxing day today eating out and relaxing in the sun.
In other areas i’m undergoing physio for both my knee and also my shoulder, which i dislocated at sittingbourne last season. It seems to be going well and hopefully i will be at full fitness soon.
I’ll be at eastbourne on sat again and keep u informed with any news before then.

Sunday 10th April

April 11th, 2005

Well it just wasn’t to be yesterday i guess. Upon turning up i found out i had been moved to another class. But i was confident i could do well. Whilst blasting from a flag to flag win ( the only set of tapes we had were broken in heat 1) in my first heat, i looked to the second knowing it was tough. When i reached the gate there was only three of us. I made the gate and was in first but whilst heading into the second lap the bike seemed to die and then regain its power. This continued every corner until the very last. Leading into the last corner the engine finally gave up and died completely sending me off into the fence. I switched bikes back in the pits but the second bike didnt want to go either. After cleaning out the carburettor and refuelling it, it finally got going. Although in my last two races i struggled with the bike and setup i managed to pick up 3 points. But in my last race although picking up second the carb seemed to give way crossing the line and another bike was to be shelved. So an early shower and looke forward to Newport in two or three weeks time. Thanks to Matt and my dad who were my mechanics yesterday and did a sterling job.

Easter Update

March 28th, 2005

Hello, hope all had a good Easter.
Well i managed to ride on good friday at Eastbourne. It went ok, i struggled with the knee but managed at least 4 half decent laps. My first ride i had the wrong tyre pressure and the back wheel was over spinning. My second ride was better, i missed the gate perposely to follow on and get in 4 laps really. Trev was also in the race and recorded the fatsest time of the second half with 63.2
I am hoping to heal the knee more over the next week. I am going to ride the junior track in the afternoon on sat and then the 2nd half afterwards. Hopefully im fit enough to get back in the mix as i so nearly was a week ago before the crash. Any news i’l relay here!

Good Friday

March 25th, 2005

IN more than one way it’s a good friday. My knee is feeling much better. The minor op to drain the knee went well. I,ve been doing some tough exercises on it and its really freeing it up. I have enough mobility to ride. Just a few tight muscles and bruising but otherwise it’s fine. See ya all there nd post results here tomorrow.

Weds 23rd March

March 23rd, 2005

Oh dear. My knee is still badly swollen and very painfull. Im going to hospital after work today to hopefully get it sorted out. The bike actually has come away unscathed from the crash, phew! Still hoping to be ok for friday, ill let everyone know here first.

Sat 19th March

March 20th, 2005

Well urm i guess last night was a total disaster for me. I made the gate alongside Trev and going into the first corner Trev seemed to lock up and i caught his back wheel with my front. This sent me up into the air and when my front wheel came back down Adam hit my back wheel sending me flying. I landed awkwardly and smashed my knee into the ground. At first the paramedics thought id broken my femur (thigh bone) because of the pain, but luckily it seems to be just bruising. After a good check over i was able to hobble to the van and come home.
this morning the swelling was huge. I have it supported and am icing it reguarly. Im able to walk, kind of, so i plan to rest it till the bruising and swelling goes down and then try to reagin some strength and movement in it. I will keep u all updated with progress during the week.

New Season

March 18th, 2005

Well tomorrow the new season starts for me. The 1st second half this year. I cant wait, i’m so excited. However preperations have not gone unhindered, with a bolt snapping on the countershaft earlier this evening. But no worry i can get a spare one tomorrow, phew. Hope that we all put on a good show for u guys and gals. So i guess i will see u all there.

Pairs Championship

March 14th, 2005

Hi, well monday morning now and i have just recovered from last nights celebrations. Yes that means me and Gordon Walker won the novice pairs championship yesterday.
After an eventfull start to the day for myself with my cut-out not working and other bits and pieces , it all came together as the racing began. In our first heat i took the flag with gordon in 3rd. Our second heat was a superb 1st, 2nd. In our third heat we took on Adam Lowe and Dave Tutton. Whilst Adam sped off into the distance i chased in second and Gordon held off Tutton at the rear. Going into the last lap my right footrest broke i turned round to see Gordon pass me on the inside but to my suprise Tutton had retired with mechanical problems. This gifted us a 5-4 heat advantage which proved vital in the final points standings. In our fourth outing i led the whole race, although i tried to slow the race down to allow Gordon into second behind me it was to no avail, but another well earned 6 points . In the last race it wasnt so easy as i made the gate with Gordon in second but i seemed to suffer mechanical troubles and had trouble staying in front. Lucky for me i managed to let Gordon through into first. I then slipped into third but luckily i managed to maintain this position to the flag.
The final points for us were ME: 16 Gordon: 14 A Total of 30 points.
We took the title only by 1 point as Lowe and Tutton finished on 29 points. An excellent day for both of us and hopefully a sign of things to come this season. A huge congratulations to Gordon walker, What a team!
