Hi all. Well a very pleasing wekend in the end. I won the novice championship at kings lynn for 2005. After so long out of racing i felt it could go either way at the start of the day. But after my first ride i knew i was quick enough to really have a go. Here is how it went
Heat 1: I missed the gate but on the run in into the first corner i moved inside and paul evans on the inside seemd to get too much grip and went across me, i locked up and nipped up the inside coming out of bend 2 to lead and was never troubled from there.
Heat 2: Once again missing the gate i went wide going into the first corner allowing a rider up my inside but entering turn 3 i went wide and blasted around the outside of him once again to take the flag.
Heat 3: Finally i made the start but this time it was called back after a first bend fall for one of the other guys. Second time out i made the start again and led from pillar to post.
Heat 4: This ride coming after a track grade and water was not ideal but after making the start i was cautious going into turn 1 and allowed Lee coley up the inside. I was struggling for grip on the inside and decided to run wide and going into turn 3 for the second time i managed to blast right around him and clear into the lead.
Heat 5: I made not too bad a start and managed to drop across from gate 3 to lead into the 1st bend, from then on i was never realy troubled.
Final: Ii had wanted gate 4 going into the final becuase i knew there was a little bit of fresh dirt by the fence which i could use for the start. Having got gate 4 i made the most of it and going into turn 1 i was level with Jason taylor who also hadn’t dropped a point all day. Going into 3 though he seemed to grab too much grip and drifted across me so i cut back up the inside and took the lead and never looked back, although im told that there were 3 guys right on my tale.
So a very happy day in the end after my first meeting back. I will be resting for a couple of days before going to Newport on sunday for an individual meeting with STR. Many thanks must go out to my mechanics over the weekend with stewart and my grandad and even my bro helping me to get 2 bikes together. Without these people i would never of made it.
